Rationale/Target Audience

Rationale/Usefulness:

  • Teenagers at years 13 to 14 are undergoing puberty and thus a health education package is ideal to guide them on their diet, exercise routine etc.

  • 1.7 million Singaporeans at risk (about 1/3 of the population) to obesity related diseases (From Mind Your Body, The Straits Times, Apr 19 2014)

  • Percentage of obese children has remained at 12% from 2011 to 2013

 

 

We aim to raise awareness about health education, and the growth of oneself, in order to assist our target audience to achieve a healthy and balanced lifestyle, thereby reducing the risk to diseases and they are able to look out for themselves when they grow up. 

Therefore

Target Audience: All HCI high school students, but mainly focused on Hwa Chong Sec 1 and 2 students

  • Ample sports opportunities in Sec 1 and 2

  • Build a good foundation of knowledge about nutrition and sports, to allow them to lead a healthy lifestyle after being enlightened

  • HCI students, because we want to test out whether our products are really helpful to the students

Proposed methodology

  • Give Sec 1s and 2s a survey to find out if they are mindful of the importance of nutrition, exercise, and sports safety etc.

  • Research and find out tips and facts which can enlighten the Sec 1 and 2s and allow them to learn more about nutrition, exercise and sports safety

 

  • Tabulate/ consolidate survey results

  • Create final products
